PIFFA Training Institutes’ (PTI) History

PTI Karachi

In 2007, PTI at Karachi became functional and the first 3 batches of PIFFA-FIATA Diploma Course were conducted in the hired premises of KPT Staff College. However, an urgent need was felt to have PIFFA’s own training venue to conduct the Diploma Course.

A modest office space centrally located in Kashif Centre, Karachi, was secured and converted into a classroom with all amenities like air-conditioning, multimedia, individual desks for course participants etc. to provide a comfortable environment. On 27th July 2009, in a befitting ceremony PTI was inaugurated by Mr. Babar Badat, then Founder Chairman of PIFFA, Vice President FIATA and Member of FIATA’s Advisory Board on Vocational Training.

The classes of 4th batch commenced from July 27, 2009. Mr. Babar Badat and Mr. Khalid Mir ex-Convener Standing Committee on Training & Education briefly addressed the course participants and shared their experiences. They presented a broad spectrum of opportunities available to the freight forwarding industry.

PTI Lahore

In 2010, the Institute moved to a rented premises in PECHS Karachi and was co-located with PIFFA Secretariat. 16 batches of Diploma courses graduated from this venue. Finally, in 2016, the Institute moved into the purpose-built building, co-located with PIFFA Secretariat at 257-C, Block-6, P.E.C.H.S. Karachi-75400, Pakistan.

Concurrently, considering the desire of Association Members to have a similar institute up-country, Lahore became the next hub of the training activities. A full fledged training center was developed in the hired premises at New Garden Town, Lahore, and the first batch of trainees for the Diploma Course started on —-------------

Similarly, at Sialkot, a training center with regional PIFFA Secretariat office was established in ………., where limited training activities take place occasionally. With the ever increasing country wide demand of training the young professionals for the industry, the efforts are being made to deliver online training courses including International diplomas.

The Karachi faculty, however, successfully conducted various online courses during the pandemic.
